Replacement of Landlords lateral mains & Lighting

Replacement of the lateral mains electric cables that supply each dwelling and replacement of the existing lighting system with new cables, containment and Emergency lighting provision.

Working closely with EDF Energy for the connection of the new system to the electric meters and UK Power Networks for works required to any of the incoming supply cut outs ensured minimal disruption to the residents.

The existing system was at the end of its serviceable life so to ensure sustainability for the future and minimum power interruptions for the residents a complete new Landlords electrical installation was installed.

Using LED lighting with emergency function increased the safety of the blocks with an increase in luminance levels and a decrease in the energy consumption. Lighting controls are by an adjustable photoelectric cell ensuring the blocks are illuminated at the required times.

The works were carefully planned and phased over a period of time to ensure all 12 blocks and some 408 dwellings were completed on time and budget.

The new lateral mains system was installed running in parallel with the existing system. This method ensured the residents had minimal disruption and existing lighting was continuous throughout the works.

Having excellent relationships with both EDF Energy and UK Power Networks was a fantastic asset for these works.

Once the new system has been installed along with new distribution equipment the time comes to arrange EDF Energy to attend and swap the old system to the new.

Using experienced Client Liaison Officers we achieved 100% access to the dwellings to allow for the changeover.

The resident’s welfare is paramount and to this end we ensured information was clear and precise. Using a tried and tested lettering process and residents having access to mobile numbers for our CLO’s, site supervisory and management staff created a good working relationship across the estate.

The KPI’s for this project were fantastic.

“The work was good thank you so much, Am so satisfied and happy about the job, Thanks again.”

With any project of this size it came with challenges to overcome. Tulse Hill is a busy estate with road ways running throughout. Ensuring the safety of our staff when transporting materials was maintained across the project.

Our Client Liaison Offices took care of any vulnerable residents, this could be just spending time with them during the works or ensuring we had a portable generator to keep essential power on within their dwelling during the changeover day.

Access to the dwellings for installation works and on the changeover day is key for a successful project such as this. Of course we had some access issues but with hard work and determination all required dwelling were connected to the new system.
